Personalised Cake delivered through your Letterbox

I know I usually feature cakes that I make myself, but sometimes I do buy cakes for birthdays and other special occasions when I am simply too busy to do justice to the occasion.  So when BakerDays asked me to review one of their personalised cakes, I was pleased to agree.

The cake duly arrived in a nifty little box that fits through your letterbox.  The packaging is excellent and the cake was in pristine condition.  At first I was a bit disappointed by the size, but the cake cuts up into about 8 slices (they state it serves 4-5) and I can imagine that getting the cake as a surprise gift would be lovely, especially if you didn't have to go to the post office depot to collect it because..it fits through your letter box!

There are 300 different designs and 6 cake recipes to choose from, I chose a madeira cake with the  'Perfect Evening' from the Fashion and Glamour section of the Birthday designs.

The Letterbox cake comes with it's own tin and the stickers come off really easily without any mess.  Every cake also comes with a little party pack of candles, baloons, gift card and party horn.

The cake itself was reasonably moist with a vanilla flavour rather than the slightly lemony taste you would expect from madeira cake, pefectly tasty for a bought cake.  You can order different flavours for an additional charge, choose from Carrot Cake, Lemon Cake, Fruit Cake, Double Chocolate Chip Cake and there is also a Gluten and Wheat Free cake to order.

Letterbox Cake £14.99:  4-5 portions per cake 12cm dia 2.5cm thick

Med Party Cake £26.99: 8-16 portions 16 cm dia 3cm thick

Prices are correct at time of posting and include P&P in UK

As well as personalising your cake with a name or message, you can also upload photos for a totally customised look to your cake and Baker Days will send your choice of cake virtually anywhere.

  1. How interesting a cake that fits through the letterbox, who would of thought it. I'm impressed with the condition of the cake when you received it, it looks wonderful and they have some great designs to choose from.

  2. A very quick home made cake would be better, though, eh?

  3. It is a very clever idea, and having said no to the sample having read you review I almost wish I had accepted.

did you know that the original Hotel Chocolat sleekster boxes were designed to fit through a letterbox too?
