Farmersgirl's Farm

There is likely to be a bit of a lull in my posting anything that I am cooking over the next two to three weeks.  I have a couple of 'saved' items but otherwise it should be a case of updates on my NEW KITCHEN!  The joiner is finally coming tomorrow, so I have spent the morning clearing everything out of the cupboards.

Anyway in the meantime, I thought I might entertain you with some pictures of our calves.  They love it when they get a new bale of straw for bedding and as it was a lovely day yesterday, the sun was shining into their shed and I was able to get some decent photographs without the flash.  They will probably remain in their shed until the end of April as there is hardly any grass in the fields yet and it is still too cold at night for them to be out.

  2. Just chanced upon your blog and enjoying trawling through the recipes. Good luck with the new kitchen. Mine was supposed to be starting tomorrow but the bloke has just rung to say he's not coming until wednesday so can't see him finishing until the following weekend. I suspect a week of sandwiches in the greenhouse becons :) Can't wait until I get a working cooker and can try some of your recipes out.

I shall have to get Lucy to have a look as she loves cows (I won't tell her what will happen to them though)!

  4. They look like they're enjoying the new straw! Good luck with the kitchen, hope it all goes smoothly. Just scrolled down to the last post - I have that DK bread book too, it's lovely isn't it?

  5. Chele - they are supposed to be sweet at that age, but not when you have to catch them and they kick you!

AlexT - we will be living on salad and microwaved stuff that I have been putting in the freezer for months.

I like the one with the straw on the head too Kaz.
Joanne - yes it is a lovely book.

Keep up the great work with your articles and please stop by my health blog sometime. The web address is http://healthy-nutrition-facts.blogspot.com/.

  7. Calves are good for city slickers like myself:-). I think they're sweet. Of course, I don't have to care for them. Have a grand day. Blessings...Mary

  10. Wow...beautiful calves. I always love to see animal pictures. Once I went to see a shepherd dog show. It was just so awesome to see how intelligent and obedient those dogs were in rounding up sheep and even ducks!
